| Tom's Chase 2002 Summary. |

|
There are the things that we saw. The things that we think we saw and the things that we wanted to see. Having the freedom to go where ever the weather goes is without doubt brilliant. Throw away those tethers cast aside the real world for two weeks. Do what you want. Go where you want. If you don't want to sleep, you don't. Looking back on the two weeks we saw some amazing sights. Sunsets to die for. I love the open road, the highway stretching out ahead of you. It is pleasing to join the chasing fraternity to meet and discuss chases with people who have similar interests in severe weather. Chasing can be dangerous and one has always got to bear in mind that severe storms can kill and must be treated with respect. Chasing is extremely tiring and after two weeks I was completely worn out. I don't know how some of the groups manage 8 weeks. I have to take my hat off to them. I read once that if you intend to go chasing you must be careful who you chose to go with, because it is easy to fall out when you are thrown together for 24 hours a day. Although we did have our occasional differences of opinion, on the whole gelled together. Tied by a common interest in storm chasing. There is a Chinese proverb which goes like this "friends like old fish start to smell after two weeks" Only joking!. I thoroughly enjoyed the trip and I am already trying to find out how I can back there next year. Tom Lynch |
